101. BLIND JOURNEY (Part Two)
December 4, 1978
Charles leads a group of twenty-five blind students through the woods
to their new school in Walnut Grove. Harriet is eager to go with Charles
to pick up the children because she hears about their teacher, who isn't
blind, Hester-Sue Terhune. Harriet says the name Terhune is very prominent
and it must be a sophisticated woman with a great upbringing. She buys
new dresss and even wears a wig. But when she meets Hester-Sue she is
very dissapointed to discover she is black. In the end it takes the words
of a little blind black boy to teach her that prejudice is wrong, and
Harriet bcomes nicer.
